The past couple of days i have been thinking allot about what it takes to be a champion. Aside from all the training and competitions, there is also the mental aspect. This applies to how you handle yourself both on and off the mat. On the mat you need to have “the killer instinct”. To me this means that you are always going your hardest no matter how tired you are, how good your opponent is, or how many points your down. The mental aspect off the mat is how you deal with wins and losses. Every time i compete my expectation is to win, and to me anything less is disappointing. Even though i hate to lose, it is part of the game and how you handle it is important. I like to treat winning and losing the exact same way. I will feel good or bad about myself for one day, then its back to hard training Monday morning. No matter how you do in competition you will see things that you need to work on to get better.
