This past Saturday, November 21st, Grappling Industries held their final tournament of the year in PA. At the end of the event, after all of the individual medals were tallied, Paramount BJJ took home 1st Place Team.

Standouts among the adults included:

Brett Landrum earned Silver in his brown belt division (having been promoted just a couple weeks ago) and Silver in his advanced no-gi division with multiple wins in each division.

A.J. Discianni earned Silver in his purple belt division and Silver in his advanced no-gi division with some very impressive submissions including a Von Flue choke and a flying armlock.

Tom Beals made his purple belt debut and earned Gold in the gi and Silver in advanced no-gi, earning some hard fought victories over experienced and tough competitors.

Tiersa Cannon won 4 matches (including 3 submissions) to earn a Silver medal in her white belt division. None of the matches were easy, Tiersa showed composure and determination as she fought through adversity to earn her medal.

Other competitors who earned medals includes Alex Kitsen (Gold), Justin LaFazia (Gold), Cat Millares (Silver), Blake Lowry (Bronze) and Dan O’Neill (Bronze).

Valuable experience was gained by tournament newcomers Jeff Giannini, Aileen Duffy, Jacob Beckman and Miles Huffman, who all played an important role in the strength of the team on Saturday.

Among the youth and teens the main standouts were Sienna Landrum, who earned double Gold by winning both her gi and no-gi divisions, and Jocelyn Letscher who earned a Gold in her gi division and Silver in her no-gi division in her first tournament.

Other medalists included Mike Landrum (Silver), Rileigh O’Neill (Silver and Bronze), Tyler Mahoney (Silver) and Jason “Bubba” O’Neill (Silver).

Every single person who stepped onto the mats played a role in the team’s victory. The positive energy generated from having so many competitors from Paramount on the mats cannot be understated. The support from each other and from teammates and family who came to cheer us on plays a true role in the success of each individual, and thus of the team.
