In a conference call with UFC promoter Dana White today Georges St-Pierre announced that he’d be vacating his UFC welterweight title and taking an indefinite leave of absence from MMA.

Citing the pressure of training, doing press and fighting at the highest level, GSP said he needs to lead “a normal life” for a while. This leaves the title up for grabs, but the UFC has already booked a fight between Johnny Hendricks (who many felt deserved the win over GSP) and Robby Lawler, who’s on a hot streak after KOing Josh Koscheck and upsetting Rory MacDonald.
