22 year old Phil Mento was promoted to blue belt at Paramount BJJ just over a year ago, after winning the IBJJF Miami Open and IBJJF National Championships at white belt. He won the Grapplers Quest World Series just a few weeks after being promoted. In October of last year he competed at the US Grappling Diamond State Games, and brought home 4 Gold medals after winning every division he entered. At the NAGA earlier this month Phil competed against and defeated a purple belt 8-2.

Phil has set his sights on a 2014 World Championship, but first he’ll compete at the Pan Ams, Boston Open, and New York Open. Phil has set the bar high for all Paramount competitors who follow, by doing 2 to 3 two hour training sessions Monday through Friday and one session Saturday. Simply put, there is no one at Paramount who trains harder.
