Ed Westermark is one of the most kind and unassuming Jiu-Jitsu fighters you’ll ever meet. One of the instructors for the Children’s Program at Paramount, Ed is known for his affable nature and great sense of humor.

But once he steps onto the mat he is a fierce competitor. At 46 years old he trains day-in and day-out with the top athletes on the competition team, who’s ages range from 22 to 32 years old- ten to tweny years younger than he is.

Ed Double Gold NY 2013

He never complains, he never makes excuses, and he never quits. Here are some of his accomplishments:

2012 IBJJF Boston Open Champion at middleweight
2012 IBJJF Master World Championships Silver medalist at middleweight
2013 IBJJF New York Open Champion at middleweight
2013 IBJJF New York Open Champion at open weight
2013 IBJJF Pan American No-Gi Champion at middleheavy

A role model for all students, Ed is dedicated, hard working, loyal, and more than willing to sacrifice his time to help his teammates. Ed will be traveling to California on March 12 to compete at the Pan American Championships alongside teammates Mike Thomas and Phil Mento.
